The
Smith Building, located at the corner of Fulton and Eddy streets,
was designed by architect Martin & Hall and built by real-estate
developer Edwin A. Smith in 1912. This building with its Chicago
windows and quoined corners exemplify the handsome commercial
building type that rose during the prosperous early 20th century.

Each of the 6 residential floors of the Smith Building have the same layout
housing LOFTS of varying sizes. The LOFTS range in size from
600 square feet to 1,100 square feet. Rents start at $1000.

The Peerless Building houses underground parking with sixty-seven spaces. There is
also Parking in the Grant’s
Block Project. As part of the Westminster LOFTS project and taking up almost
the entire block surrounded by Westminster, Union, Weybosset and Clemence Streets,
the Grant’s Block project will have a 550 space parking structure as
well as retail/residential liner buildings fronting on the Westminster and
Weybosett Street ends. This is scheduled to open in 2008.
